Sony launches new pay-per-view thingy (I love technical terms)

Today, Sony is launching its pay-per-view movie streaming service ‘Video on Demand powered by Qriocity.’ Now available in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, the new service allows film fans to rent hundreds of movies, including the latest releases and films from local studios, straight to their Sony 2010 network-enabled devices including BRAVIA TV or Blu-ray players.

For a limited time, Sony is also offering those who sign up early a £15 voucher to redeem against movies of your choice. All you need to do is visit http://www.qriocity.com/gb/en/video.html to create an account and register your Sony device.

Monsters Foursquare suprise anounced...

What i say:
What is there to say, great children's films that play excellently on the differences of cats and dogs. A certain Toy related movie will beat the hell out of any other kids movie coming out.

What i say:
I don't know much about this, it does however sound very interesting and anything with Guy Pierce in has to be worth at least one watch right? Though I'll admit when i saw the title i thought kids film based in a zoo!?

"I can't believe the terrible reviews!! This was exactly what SATC is supposed to be - fun and funny, and oh so girlie! It totally captured the spirit of the beloved show and characters. If you were a fan of the show, how can you not love this movie!? SATC1 movie, on the other hand, was kind of depressing. This movie was a riot! I LOVED it!! It was just what the fans ordered!!! Hot men, cool fashion, glitz, exotic location, true friends and Aidan! So great to see Aidan and the chemistry between him and Carrie. Everyone in this movie looked AMAZING - All those hot men, and all the gorgeous ladies. The gay wedding was hilarious. Can't wait for SATC3!"

"As a longtime fan of the series I was seriously shocked and appalled that the 4 women that were initially portrayed as intelligent, fun, sexy New Yorkers are shown here as self-obsessed, over- sexed idiots that are not able to travel anywhere without offending the locals and looking ridiculous. The plot of the movie is non-existent. It all looks like a really long compilation of advertorials with not much connection between the scenes. And I am not speaking about the horrible inappropriate styling and the so-old looking women - it would be fine, if they at least were styled and made up properly: Carrie has this weird tan, looks about 10 years older than she actually is and has none of the coolness that made her so likable. Charlotte is losing it and in spite of all the makeup, looks tired and has totally lost her perky personality. Not only Samantha also looks much older than she is thanks to the terrible makeup, but her behavior is erratic and really not consistent with what has been shown in the series. The only one who was more or less OK was Miranda. And don't get me started on the Abu Dhabi stint - the Middle-Eastern country is ridiculed, wrongly portrayed and I frankly think that it is shown in a racist manner. It's a shame, really, that they have taken a social phenomenon and turned it into a shameful mess. I will choose to ignore this movie, pretend I never saw it and keep on watching the series."

What i thought:
I should get it out there now, i quite enjoyed the series. Despite it being aimed squarely at our better half's, it was still funny! It had nothing to do with the conversations ranging from all manner of girly problems, the situations were funny and the chemistry between the leading ladies is infectious.

However, i can safely say Sex and the City should now be put to bed, in fact it should have after the last film. My wife agrees and she was an avid SATC fan. This poor sequel only has a couple of good points and that's the odd giggle you get from moments that felt like the series; mainly happening around the breakfast/lunch/dinner table the ladies are talking at. Apart from that it was a self indulgent mess of over camp jokes, product placement and a completely awful mis-aimed look at life in the Middle East!

That's right life in the middle east, in Sex and the City! even if you've been living in a cave for the last century you'll still feel that it's all wrong from the moment the ladies get on the plane to go!

Just awful and a real stab to the heart of what was a genuinely lovely series about women just, well living and having lots of sex.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

"I just got home from watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I will try not to give any spoilers, but I thought it was one of the best movies yet. I thought moreover that it was fairly loyal to the book for once, as far as it was possible. I thought the tension build up was very good throughout the movie, I liked seeing the characters being slightly more matured. There are some new kind of 'special effects' in the movie, which was kind of weird to me at first, but I guess it fitted the story. I can't wait to see part two , even though I know what will happen.I will not tell you anymore, but it is definitely worthy to see it in the cinema:)"

Some good points, its certainly more mature than the rest. It's gotten more mature as its gone along but this one is quite a big jump! It is also very close to the book.

"This is a terrible movie: it does not stand alone and present its own narrative ...on one level I can understand Harry and his classmates and such, but this just skims WAY over everything else. I admit to having not read the book but the previous movies allowed for that and presented a unified story - end to end - and this did not. WTH are all these esoteric details that we were supposed to either know from the book or remember from obscure references in prior films? This is the laziness of a big brand. I went to the midnight show but I may not even care to see the next film ...if its already in the can with this approach then I'm not going to 'get it' either ....too bad."

Well, clearly if you've seen the rest of the movies you weren't paying attention! its not hard to follow they are children's films at the end of the day! More importantly however, how can you watch Harry Potter without first reading the books! it seems impossible to me that anyone the slightest bit interested in Harry Potter has not even bothered picking up the books! foolish.

What i thought:
I thought it was great, but it will take some effort to really like it. Like the book Harry and his cohorts have been taken out of the comfort of Hogwarts and Dumbledore is dead. This is a hard world where characters begin dropping like flies as J.K Rowling pulled no punches. You genuinely worry for every character as any one could be next!

There will be the biggest problem, its going to lose some of its audience as some of the film is actually very scary and might not be suitable for the younger potter fans, though if they've read or been read the books it isn't nothing they haven't imagined before but at least its in their head and not in front of their eyes.

The main three continue to grow in acting ability, Emma Watson for me however was the stand out. She's dropped the mainly acting with her eyebrows and being over dramatic to reeling it in. Clearly now relishing the fact that the film explores Hermione's character to a much larger extent than ever beofore. Seeing the pain in obliterating your parents memory of you is genuinely heartbreaking and she plays it well.

So its everything you thought it would be, a Harry Potter road movie like the book was un-ashamedly shocking! Now bring on that finale!
